A Special Day, A Wonderful Invitation
When you think of the Mid-Autumn Festival, what comes to mind? Perhaps the moon, mooncakes, circles, or joyful holidays? Let's take a look at how the K2 International kids spent their holiday week!
The air was filled with the sweet aroma of delicious food and lemon tea. The art of creating lacquer fans and practicing water calligraphy brought mountains, rivers, lakes, and stars to life.
With traditional music playing in the background, children were invited to either try their hand at an instrument or dance, all while dressed in Hanfu, immersing themselves in the beauty of Chinese culture.

To celebrate the mid-autumn festival – We learned the words ‘moon’ and ‘mooncake’ and then we did a coloring project where the students had a choice between two pictures – They could choose to color a rabbit with a mooncake, or a plate of mooncakes under the stars and moonlight

We made lanterns together.

The Mid-Autumn moon shines especially bright, and people come together even more on this holiday. The moon has always been a central symbol of this festival. As we reflect on China's lunar exploration, we learned about 12 "firsts" in the country's space journey—from launching the first artificial Earth satellite to sending the first Chinese astronaut into space, from the first lunar probe to the first Mars probe, and from the first "spacewalk" to the first Chinese astronauts entering their own space station. Each "first" marks a significant moment in China's pursuit of space exploration.
These games, like wood-shooting, archery, mooncake-making, and pot-throwing, were thoughtfully designed according to the children's ages, allowing them to experience and appreciate Chinese wisdom through play.

Traditional games are a part of China's cultural heritage and are treasures to be passed down.

We practiced the “I’m a little teapot” some more! The students reviewed words related to tea through the song such as – teapot, boil, tip over, pour out, handle, and spout。

On this special day of reunion, we hosted a unique "Mid-Autumn Festival engagement." Together with the parents, we crafted a Mid-Autumn Festival curriculum, starting with the food of the festival. Families, children, and friends gathered together for a joyful celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, making our bonds stronger and our joy fuller!

The mooncakes, fragrant and sweet, began as simple dough and were transformed into delightful shapes. Mooncakes are a traditional Chinese delicacy, closely tied to the festival’s themes of the moon and reunion.

Our dear "teacher moms" transformed the day into an unforgettable experience for the children. We painted Mid-Autumn Festival smiles together, gathered around to listen to stories, made mooncakes, sipped tea, and shared love in every delicate moment.
We started learning about the different tools needed to brew tea – teaspoons, tea leaves, teapot, etc。We learned a couple of tea varieties – Jasmine tea and green tea。We played a game practicing the different tea making tools!

Learn about the cultural history of tea together

Wow, it smells good.
We invited families to participate, combining hands-on activities with mooncake-making, so children could truly feel the festive spirit. A small piece of mooncake carries the essence of the Mid-Autumn Festival—driven by taste, it represents the deep sentiment of reunion and the allure of traditional culture.

To conclude, we sang childhood songs together and cracked golden eggs to share our good fortune. In the lively music activity, "Grandpa Made Mooncakes for Me," we all voiced our blessings and wishes for one another.
A heartfelt thank you to our four "teacher moms" and two "super dads" for their incredible planning and dedication to creating a unique holiday experience for the children. You’ve worked so hard to prepare this special event. To those reading, we warmly invite you to join in the happiness.
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, and have a wonderful holiday!
