2026年8月26日，包括上海大学新加坡校友会、新加坡三江会馆上海公会微信群和其他中国高校新加坡校友会的新移民朋友来到了西海岸社区中心，参与 WEST COAST PASSIONARTS FESTIVAL 2026 活动，为民众提供AI情绪价值焕新活动。
本活动吸引了超过500名当地民众参加，其中不乏有老年人和各种族的家庭。“乐龄AI情绪价值焕新”活动主要是为老人家提供的旧照片上色和制作AI视频，从而让老人家心情愉悦。同时也为一般民众提供对照片进行AI处理或制作成AI视频。
前后三个小时的服务，义工服务了超过30多个家庭，生成了接近60张照片。很多民众希望把他们的照片进行各种AI修改，包括更换背景和虚拟穿上各种传统服饰，增加情绪价值。中心提供的彩色打印机也打印了部分照片，现场交给排队等候的民众。
AI视频服务也完成了来自大约6个家庭的约12个视频的处理任务。大部分的视频是让旧照片内的人物活动了起来，似乎30多年前拍摄结婚或亲友团聚的场景又立刻回到了现在，动态地展现在眼前。许多人拿回视频后情绪激动，几乎落泪，十分动容。
这次参与义工活动的九位新移民，祖籍分别来自上海、江苏、浙江、重庆和福建。他们都是近30多年来从中国来到新加坡生活和工作的新移民，大多都是专业人士，从事教育、科技、金融和餐饮等服务。为了这次活动，他们准备了三个月。
新移民在新加坡落地生根并开枝散叶，同时也积极参与新加坡本地百年宗乡会馆的活动、融入本地社会，尤其利用他们掌握的专业知识包括AI人工智能知识，对需要重点关爱的社群做公益献爱心。他们还自掏腰包准备了硬件和软件订阅以确保顺利完成服务。
西海岸社区活跃乐龄委员会（Active Ageing Committee AAC）主席 Timothy 在受访时表示："这项运用生成式人工智能（GenAI）的社区计划，旨在协助乐龄人士及其家人透过科技重温珍贵回忆，并创造能够促进家庭交流与情感联系的作品。AI 生成的照片和视频不仅保存了个人与家庭记忆，也承载着我们的文化传承和价值观。
我们衷心感谢新移民社群运用自身的专业知识和技术能力支持这项活动。通过与本地居民的交流互动，我们希望促进社区融合，让新移民更深入了解本地社会，同时共同聆听和珍惜乐龄人士的人生故事，携手建设一个包容、多元和充满关爱的社区。”
新移民代表表示，此类活动他们会设法持续下去。他们将继续通过参与本地社区活动而融入本地社群，为共同维护一个多元种族的和谐社会而努力。

"AI-Powered Emotional Rejuvenation for Seniors"

On August 26, 2026, a group of new immigrants—representing the Shanghai University Singapore Alumni Association, the Singapore Sanjiang Association Shanghai Chapter, and alumni associations of other Chinese universities—gathered at the West Coast Community Centre. They participated in the "West Coast PassionArts Festival 2026," offering an "AI-Powered Emotional Rejuvenation" activity designed to uplift the spirits of the community.
The event attracted over 500 local residents, including many seniors and families from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The core of the "AI-Powered Emotional Rejuvenation" initiative involved colorizing old photographs and creating AI-generated videos for seniors to bring them joy. The team also offered AI photo processing and video creation services to the general public.
Over the course of three hours, the volunteers served more than 30 families and generated nearly 60 images. Many residents requested various AI modifications—such as changing backgrounds or virtually "dressing" subjects in traditional attire—to enhance the emotional significance of their photos. Using a color printer provided by the center, the team printed selected photos and handed them directly to residents waiting in line.
The AI video service processed approximately 12 videos for six families. Most of these videos animated figures from old photographs, making scenes—such as weddings or family reunions from over 30 years ago—come alive in the present. Many recipients were deeply moved, with some becoming emotional to the point of tears upon seeing the dynamic results.
The nine volunteers participating in this event hailed from various ancestral regions in China, including Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Chongqing, and Fujian. Having moved to Singapore over the past three decades to live and work, most are professionals in fields such as education, technology, finance, and the food and beverage industry. They spent three months preparing for this event.
These new immigrants have put down roots and built lives in Singapore. They actively participate in local community activities —including those organized by historic clan associations — and integrate into society. In particular, they leverage their professional expertise, including knowledge of AI technology, to provide charitable services and care to communities in need. They even covered the costs of hardware and software subscriptions out of their own pockets to ensure the service ran smoothly.
Timothy, Chairperson of the West Coast Community Active Ageing Committee (AAC), stated in an interview: "This community initiative, which utilizes Generative AI (GenAI), aims to help seniors and their families revisit cherished memories through technology and create works that foster family interaction and emotional bonds. AI-generated photos and videos not only preserve personal and family memories but also embody our cultural heritage and values.
We sincerely thank the new immigrant community for leveraging their professional expertise and technical skills to support this event. Through interactions with local residents, we hope to promote community integration, enabling new immigrants to gain a deeper understanding of local society while collectively listening to and treasuring the life stories of our seniors, thereby building an inclusive, diverse, and caring community together."
Representatives of the new immigrant community expressed their commitment to sustaining such activities. They intend to continue integrating into the local community by participating in local events and striving to uphold a harmonious, multi-racial society.
